Hi, I’m Seora Park.

I am a critical human-computer interaction (HCI) researcher and a first-year Ph.D student in information at Indiana University Bloomington.

I am deeply intrigued by the sociocultural impact of technology that shapes the norms of our material lives.
Mainly, my research interest centers on exploring how Information and communication technology (ICT) constructs the lived experiences of marginalized groups, encompassing women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and those with disabilities, potentially perpetuating inequalities.

I am also aim to leverage technology for social justice as employing ethnography, interviews, observations, co-design, speculative design, and other various methods.
Drawing from interdisciplinary work, including critical, feminist, and queer studies, I aim to facilitate the communities’ navigation of agency and challenge the status quo.

Prior to my PhD (advisor: Dr. Austin Toombs at the C-CI Lab), I completed a MA in Communication (advisors: Dr. Joonhwan Lee and Dr. Hajin Lim at the HCI+D Lab) at Seoul National University, a BA in Information Science & Culture, and Political Science at Seoul National University (advisor: Dr. Hwajung Hong at the DxD Lab).

If you have any questions or would like to chat with me, please feel free to contact me! Thank you for visiting 😊
